hi tammie
be careful with the light headed one as they breed quite readily with societies and you may have a mutation on your hands there...eventually it will throw out normal marked spice birds ..but it just might as you say be dropping some young feathers

Thanks y'all.

I don't have any plans on breeding... not in the near future anyway. I don't have my aviary set up for breeding and don't really have room in the house for individual breeding cages.

They are lovely birds, but so darn flighty.

They make this little "meep-meep" sound when I'm not in the room but as soon as they see me they are up to the highest perch and are as still as statues.

I hope they loosen up a bit once the get settled into the aviary. I plan to keep them in quarantine til the end of next week... if all goes well. ;)

I have three Gouldians, a pair of Societies a pair of Shaft-tails, two Canary hens and a lone Strawberry male.

The Spices are doing great. Plan to move them into aviary this Sunday. They are not taking to the water bottle to well yet, but I believe they will once in the with the other birds.

I was even happier when I got home and looked at my receipt.

Those clerks at Petco really need to take more care when ringing things up. Once again they failed to charge me for a bird... even though the warrenty sheet I filled out said I had gotten two birds, the clerk only charged me for one! :D

Now I just hope they both make it through quarantine okay. I'll post a couple pix when they settle down.

well i got one for free to when i got home and it was from petco

I still think that bird will molt out of the lighter feathers. Keep us updated after the next molt! :)

Will do. So far they are doing great.

I bought a Cordon Bleu cock last Saturday. He is now in quarantine and singing up a storm. :)
