I have given the pair an open face society box, the flight is planted with silks and greens. At night they choose to roost in the greens.
Do your GS roost in the box or do they do the same as mine. Do they use the box just for raising young and once done roost back in the greens?

Re: Green singer roosting question
I believe Green Singers nest in a open canary nest, you know the round wicker ones.

1 pair of Zebras (CFW&Normal) + 8 eggs

One of the Green Singer experts on here can chime in, but I also believe they like an open canary nest, or will build their own, but it will also be open. And they only use the nest to raise their babies.

Re: Green singer roosting question
Not having breeding green singer, I can only chime in with what my hen does.
She has a choice of the entire aviary to roost in and always roosts in the shrubbery at mid level. I think they like to sleep surrounded by greeness. Perhaps they will only sleep in a nest when they are nesting? I would not know though.

Re: Green singer roosting question
I'm agree with monotwine. They do like to sleep at night in green plants real or fake. Their bright yellow color disappear in dark. Sometimes I have troubles finding them even when they are a foot away. They look like leaves. Usually they look at me and move their heads which helps me to find them.

Re: Green singer roosting question
Thank you, I may take the twig nest and add green ferns and plants to the back and sides for added privacy. I leave use two night lights one one either side of the cage at night.
My male just started singing during the morning as well as at night. The are somewhat shy and timid but if they are flying back and forth as I approach, I whistle lightly and they hold still and look around.
