Question - Newbie here

Post by robbocop » Fri Jul 20, 2007 5:01 pm

Hi all, have been doing some research and reading here for a few days and on other sites and went out and bought some finches. I did have some years and years ago (zebra's) and they bred and grew. Two days ago, I bought a pair of Zebra's male and female (I hope) one is white without markings as was depicted in an earlier post, and I am guessing she is the female. I also got a pair of Societys, who knows what they are. I have 2 nests in the cage and two dispensers for nesting material, all birds are getting along great, no chasing, plucking, etc. 2 sets of food and water dishes, plenty of perch space and plenty of flight space. How am I doing, anythng more I need to know or do?

I am retired now and do have plenty of time for the birds and looking for eggs, (hopefully if my sexes are right). For the 1st two nights, none of the birds have ventured into the nests or looked for the nesting material. I thought they would for sleeping anyway, am I wrong? Or am I just being to impatient. Each species was housed toegther in the store and so they know each other. Thanksin advance.

Rob

Hiya and welcome to the forum, I am only a beginer with breeding myself, but it sounds like you have everything covered, I would say that although they were together inthe pet shop they still need a little time to adjust to their new home. I am sure oncethey are settled in they will be in the nests you have provided for them. Good luck

Hi and welcome rob. They are probably just settling in as lisa said. Good luck and i'm sure you'll have little chickadees soon.
