I think you are right...it is a big Gold Breast. Wonder if it will be tame. It's eyes are just starting to open a little.

The link you gave Cindy are actually BCCB chicks, so I vote goldbreast.

Definitely not a RCCB -- hand-fed quite a bit of those and never saw one so dark. By elimination must be a GB... cute little fellow!

I think it is a GB. CB babies have dark tan fuzz on head and bodies, GBs have white fuzz. GB babies also start out pink but turn dark. There used to be an outstanding site for mouth markings of many species, but it is no longer there--shame.

It is easier to have a tame handfed when they are the only one. A friend of mine has a Star handfed that is quite tame right now. She is trying to wean it, wants it to be a Star, but it doesn't want to leave its 'mommy'.

Sally, I did find a a baby with light brown fuzz and was pink, it looked like it hatch recently...so it must have been a RCCB chick, it passed away, the fuzz looked different than the one I am feeding out.

I moved the RCCBs out of the flight so hopefully the owls and GB can raise young without their nests being raided. One pair of owls have een mating and in their nest lately...so maybe they will produce also.
