cubans are VERY light sitters! as soon as you are near the cage they will pop out and keep an eye on you....

friends have told me that theirs will toss chicks... or leave the nest of they check them... i have never found this to be true... i am VERY NOSEY and check my nests almost daily or every other... and i also band my chicks at about 10 to 14 days old...

this is NOT to say that your pairs will allow this... just that mine do...

good luck!

no live food is needed! just keep a dish of dry (protein 25 or cede) in the cage at all times... and good eggfood (prepared) offered 1 to 2 times a day...

the biggest thing with the cubans is that they LOVE TO FLEDGE EARLY! so keep an eye on the chicks... and put them back when needed! (4 to 5 times a day with clutch i have now! argggg)

This pair is the mellow pair of the two that I have.
They have been really good lately.
She still has not started to sit, she still needs to lay another egg or two.

I give mine egg food twice a day, that I make myself and they make little piggies out of themselves.
Also they love to bath everyday!

Both pairs have new nests and both hens look like they laid today.
The hens go into the nests around 7:00AM, and both have big round bottoms.
When they come out, they have a big poop and their bottoms look smaller. :o :) [-X

This morning I was doing some reading and having a coffee after I gave them their egg food and the hens went back in the nests.
My mule was singing, my Green singers were bickering!
That is why I have them, my place to get away from it all.
All was well with the world!!
