 Poor Poohbear.... maybe it's time to have a serious talk with that hen ](*,)

Welcome Cole

when it comes to gouldian finches there are many abbreviations for them. There are different mutations. The letters represent the colors of the bird of that mutation. The normal ones are usually
RH PB GB red head, purple breast, green back
there are black and yellow heads also. to make it more confusing most hobbiest call the yellow heads(YH) orange heads :? (OH)
to abbreviate them you would just substitute the R with a B for black head instead of red head....

you can have purple, white, or lilac breast
green, blue, yellow, silver back also pastel and dilute

These birds can also carry a gen (color) that is hidden but can still pass on to their offspring (like if you Mom was brown eyed, your Dad blue eyed...say you get the brown eyes... you are still a carrier for the blue eyes...... so your children could be blue eyes if those hidden genes were to kick in) so say I called you brown eyed split for blue eye. abbreviated as BE/BE
with gouldians you could have a BH/YH PB/WB GB/BB
meaning black head split to yellow head, purple breast split to white breast, green back split to white breast.
There also single factors and double factors...SF and DF

Okay, go study some more :D

"fids" is an abbreviation for finch kids

Then there are other things that us finchers just get tired of typing...like
air sac mites...ASM
apple cider vinegar ACV
nestbox.. NB
dead in shell... DIS
and tons more... hang around you will learn many I am sure, and like Liz said...just ask and we will try and help. :D
