Well yesterday I checked the owl nest and found that 3 of the eggs are solid and the other two I can see the yolk. My concern is she doesn't sit in the nest all day once in awhile she will leave the nest to forage around and the male doesn't take over. Are Owl nesting habits different from other finches?

I 'thought' someone said the eggs can sit unattended for as long as 10-15 minutes at a time. I'm not positive though. I hope your Owl eggs are fine! [-o< when do you think they should hatch? Sounds like you have 3 with chickies in them =D> 8)

Trish I am not sure when the eggs were laid. It takes everything I have not to keep peeking in the nest daily to see what is going on. Yesterday I did have to move my society chicks to a larger nest as they were hanging out of the old nest. All's well with that change.

Sherry, the male should take over when she flies out but sometimes there is a learning curve there.

How are they doing now?

Well things seem to be going alright. He is flying around the cage like a whirling durvish. I do see him eating and then flying up to the nest....She has been in the nest most of the day so far...
