My male owls are with two male gouldians and they are hilarious. The goulds never used their bath before and since putting them in the same flight as the owls they now use the owls bath. They are hilarious to watch together. If you just get tow male goulds you will resist breeding. [-X

Taking into account that you are looking for a quiet species, I would recommend Senegal fire finches. They are extremely quiet and small.. very non-threatening. They are also very beautiful.

That is a good idea. I have a big owl flight with 4 breeding pairs of owls. I have some Senegal Fires in there with all of those owls and they do great.

I am really interested in this too. I am new to Owls and have Societies that are in a separate flight. The Societies seem to be nest 'hogs'. I've read that they can coexist, but when I finally get my aviary built, I wonder the Owls would be able to hold their own.

In my opinion I would not put the little "nest hogs" in with owls. Owls do not like to be disturbed and frighten easily off the nest, to many little nosey neighbors and they can abandon the nest.

Thanks Cindy for the advice. think I concur with yours. Owls are so small, compared to the Societies. So different in attitude.

I do not have Zebra's, but I would think they would not be suitable companions with Owls.

I agree! Just the way the zebras bicker among themselves... that would be bad news for the little owls for sure!

I have my owl pair with my OC Waxbill pair in a 3ft. flight. They seem to do great together. Let us know what you decide

Well.. my new Fawn Owl has laid 5 eggs. Her new boyfriend had no interaction and we are trying to figure it all out.

I have several Self Chocolate Society Finches in another flight cage. I've found that my Societies are 'nest hogs'.

I'm letting my new Fawn Owl hen keep her eggs in her nest. She is young and I am really happy she was able to pass them (lost her sister earlier).

Sorry as I can't comment on the owls question (I'd love to have some but the only ones I've seen anywhere near me in NY are $310 per pair!!). A little too steep for my blood.

Dante, if you don't mind a long drive, there are african silverbills at a Petland Discounts in Thornwood, NY. I am usually leery about birds from some of these pet shops but this store in particular takes excellent care of its animals & birds, and the sales people are all quite knowledgeable. I got my own silverbills there, as well as my orange cheeked waxbills. They are all in excellent health. The manager's name is Dave, and I'm sure he'd be more than willing to work with you to hold the birds, give a discount, etc. He's been most helpful to me in the past.

They've also got a green singer, a shaft tail, a cut throat when I was there last week.
