My uncle has a fawn penguin hen! Maybe he will let me get her! And yes, no pied penguins! Fawn males are proving difficult to find!! Sandy (angeldov222) has a fawn hen and a pied male on eggs. She is going to let me get a boy from the clutch. If I pair him (grey/pied and fawn) with my fawn hen I will get some fawns that are not split to pied. I plan on setting up fawn pieds with that clutch and fawns. I can breed one of those chicks that are not split to pied to a fawn penguin hen

Dante...there has to be no pied in the birds background...

"(grey/pied and fawn) with my fawn hen I will get some fawns that are not split to pied."

The pied is stubborn and once introduced into a blood line it is hard to get rid of.

Here is a thought...if the female is a visual fawn and you pair it with a normal gray split to fawn male you will get normal penguins and fawn penguins of both sexes....so look in your stock for a NG/fawn

How adorable! He does look totally punk rock! I should know Lux is named after lux interior(thecramps) and i have a ferret named stiv bators!
You have to name him after a punk. Rocker.

How old is he days and weeks

Also, this talk ofpenguin. I have always found penguin to be the most interesting pattern. Reason because penguins have a certain way they show up, bc always have black cheeks but its only the cheeks that change. Its somewhwt uncommon for some of the body feathers to change. Like in fawn, the whole body is changed. Intersting mutation is all.

Sorry to jack your thread a little Cindy...
Lux interior was the singer of a punk band called the cramps.
I have also had all of the ramones as hermit crabs, and a Darby crash(the germs) as a bird. Lux's first hens' name was poisen ivy, she was lux interiors wife and bandmate. A little punk history for ya!
Im stuck. In the wrong era!

Well i understand that. You are as old as i. Which is why i am stuck in the wrong era! They are late 70s, 80s underground punk :)
Over with the troll, learn something new every day!
Anyway, i wish i could hav a fawn penguin. You guys are lucky to be have all of the resources to get certain mutations. I don't have an aviary to start, money, or permission from my mother or i would be on my way to an orange zeb by now!

Okay. and nope, no normals except for my English pair, I believe he is /ff or isabel. He has some eggs now so we will see what they have. There was absolutely no fawn in that entire stock (my uncles and mine) except for a fawn BB hen and the strange fawn eumo that just popped up. It has the eumo tear so it should be interesting! My fawn came from petsmart

I guess I am lucky, I know of nobody around with such mutations besides my uncle and his friend Brenda and Dennis breed a few. Eumo seems to be the most common in breeders around here

katie: bc mutation not only changes the cheeks
it also changes the flank color into black.

Totally forgot about the flanks. What i mean by that is the body feathers, not the other stuff though, penguin changes other then the face, ches, and flanks. I do know it makes the tail frosted though right?

Cindy, just a suggestion. :) i like to name things haha if i had an aviary i would TRY to name them all but would probably forget whih one is which heheh.

Overall, hes a cutie! I swear, Cindy, if you stay in the breeding buissness you Will be getting a call from me eventually. I may be annoying and sound stupid now, but i am still learning and i may be almost as smart as you, ameza, and vargur one day!
