Cindy but neither the Java nor the society is rare in aviculture, both have established domestic lines, I wouldn't immediately frown on controlled crossing of these species with a goal in mind like you would for much rarer species like say strawberries & goldbreasts or the cordon bleu family.

javas in some areas are harder to find than in others. There are federal laws in place that forbid transporting javas across state lines. The stock and bloodlines within that state are all there are.
Still I avoid hybridizing whether a species is in numbers or not. JMO.
I have seen owls and zebra crosses, owls and stars... these birds usually do not live long and some do not reproduce.

As Ian Malcolm said of Jurassic Park "" Life finds a way..."
Hybrids occur and are quite common. Modern humans are quite probably of descent of several human species including Neanderthals where hybridising was rarer, but did happen.
Who is to say what is right? The bird is a really beauty
Kind Regards

He acts more like a society than a Java and the song is also similar to a society, i have set him up with a Java just to see if anything happens, so far nothing??Babs wrote: NRJ
Beautiful! So how are it's mannerisms ? Acting like a Java or a Society?
The sound of the song?
