Re: Black-faced Firefinch
My male, normally flying all around thevaviary singing in the morning, has been nowhere to be seen for 2 mornings.
Though yesterday afternoon it was out, together with the female.
Today I entered the aviary to put some nest material into a wire box the Lavenders have been trying to build on rather half-heartedly, and the male fire shot out of the nest.
I peeked in, which is very hard as it's a tightly-woven fibre nest with a 3 cm tunnel entrance, and glimpsed one egg inside.
Couldn't see more, but then I couldn't exactly look around.
So he seems to be brooding, which would be a bit early if it's indeed a single egg. Anywas, better than nothing!
My cordons living in the same aviary have also laid their first egg.
Hope things get going!
The Lavenders, Black-crowns, strawberries and 2 Indonesuan munia species sharing that place have yet to follow suit...
