I also have the Brinsea mini advance, and I love it. I used to have an R-com mini that I used as a brooder, it worked really well for that. I don't know if the ecoglow 20 would work as well as a brooder for finches, as there would be no protection from drafts, unless you could suspend it over a plastic shoe box or something similar to hold the babies/nest until they were almost fledged. At that time, they wouldn't need the extra heat any more anyway.

Wow I love that. And it barely takes up any space! I used to rehab small wildbirds too, so I can certainly see how useful this would be for keeping a hatchling-nestling warm in an emergency.
