Ok, no 'John's'.... what by the way, is 'PIA'?
I hope the new babies are settling in nicely. Socies, don't usually take too long to make themselves at home.
@Animalzoo
'Crazy Bird Lady', eh?
You wouldn't by any chance be hinting that I'm a crazy bird lady, hmmmm???
And no, I didn't drive all the way down to Massachusetts, to rescue that poor little Canary. I hope someone took pity on the poor kid

delray chocolate and fawn pied right? Told you I'd be getting societies! So everyone, it's official George is a boy! Just Took him a little longer to sing, bit he's singing his heart out today after reading some delicious eggs! So waiting on Paul, but judging from the clicking and chattering in pretty sure it's Paula! Lol btw George songs better than Ringo! Lol

Is it true that one should not breed crested to crested? I had read that some where, so I have only one crested society boy, Ernest. He was so earnest in his pursuit of females, always turned down. I finally put him with a proven hen, and now they have 2 babies. Don't know what they look like yet, too young. Ernest also does the Tee-hee song. Is that normal for cresteds?

lnlovesorange yes I believe so chocolate and fawn pied. Great mutations. Watch out for the puffy dances, it's funny to watch and you can tell for sure who is a male or not. Good luck.

Crazy bird ladies are what we all are but without us lots of ill or disabled birdies would be left suffering in pet shops!
I am one and proud!
Also, I'd rather be a bird lady than crazy cat lady hehehe

I used to have Cats over the years, but alas they have gone to the great Cat Heaven beyond.
Yea, I know we're all bird crazies, lol.
When I start talking birds, and showing pictures, etc. even my best friends , get a weird look on their faces......it's something between panic, bordering on terror, mixed with nausea. It's an interesting look, and kind of difficult to describe. And, it's quite amazing how people suddenly remember forgotten appointments, and other places where they urgently have to go to.....

Re: Meet George, Paul & Ringo....
I've heard that on breeding 2 crested's together as well. However, (please experts, correct me if I'm wrong) but Crested I believe is a dominant trait, so if you breed a crested bird you are going to get crested kids.... (@lovezebs had 2 Canaries, the Mum canary was crested, the dad was not, and I believe she got... what was it Elana 1/2 your babies were crested?) But I have heard that about putting them together, and I want to say what I read/heard was that the crested mutation is weaker, or more apt to having issues.... something along those lines, so that putting two together lessens the chicks chances of having a long "normal" (W/E that is) life.... Again, Experts, correct me if I'm wrong. Also, wanted to share with everyone couple pics, Love. LOVE. LOVE Ringo's hair after a tub... I was worried, wondering if they had been tubbed at the store (they all seemed a little itchy...) so i was worried they wouldn't know how to bathe, or it would take them some time to figure it out.... Well, they found the tub (didn't have the pleasure of watching them bathe, but I got the aftermath) And thought Ringo was So freakin' cute with his "hair" a mess!!! LOL. BTW, I'm 98.9999 % sure that I have 2 boys and a girl. I was thinking of changing the names (as much as I love Ringo, I felt that it didn't go that well because his hair looks blonde, and NONE of the Beatles have/had blonde hair....) But I can't bring myself to change his name.... I feel like it just FITS for him. So George is staying George, Ringo is staying Ringo, but Paul I'm renaming, and I'm going to call her Lucy... as in "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" it was either that or Penny (as in Penny Lane) but look at the pics below, and... honestly I think the names just .... fit, kind of like when I named Charlotte and Melvin, they just spilled out of my mouth, and ended up being PERFECT... Charlotte Rose and Melvin John.Anyway, as usual I digress.... LOL Enjoy the pics and any input on the names is much appreciated....

Re: Meet George, Paul & Ringo....
Animalzoo Thanks Sue. I know, I loved the hair after the tub! It's funny, I'm slowly finding out how different they are than other species. Like my Zebras, as skiddish as they are with me, they would NEVER turn their back to me, or when my face is at the cage or I'm talking to them (before I had a bird room) they would never come up to the front of the cage, they hung back... But the societies as, freaked out as they are, and skiddish, and they fly around and get scared... when I talk to them after a minute or so, they will hop down, and ge close to my face (again they are in the cage) and also they will turn their back to me.... Different, and I'm NOT complaining. I feel like if I work on it, I could get these birds to trust me enough, maybe even eat out of my hand!!! What do you think Sheather?
