I agree with Wildbird about the cage size. Taming a bird by putting it in a small cage would result in a bird that is cowed, sort of giving up. I think perkiness is part of what we like about finches.

Putting a cloth over the entire cage except the front will help calm them--they won't keep seeing things above and to the sides. The cloth would convert your cage to a sort of box cage, which I think is best for finches. Most birds hate seeing anything above them, because it could be a hawk. They instinctively scatter when they catch movement out of the sides or above them.

I never said I would keep them in a small cage. I said double wide flight cage with my society.
I do of course have to quarantine them to protect my current birds. I have no allusion of taming them, they r finches not parrots. I certainly I'm not going to try to torture them into tameness.

I also said that was not an option for me. No interest in tame birds.
