They are housed in my large aviary cage with Parrot Finches (3 kinds), Fire Finches (3 kinds), 3 female gouldians and 1 pair of Diamond Doves.
I just provided what I give all my finches, plenty of cover, lots of options for nests and nesting material, a "warm" spot for sunning and eggfood with fresh veggies 2 - 3 times a day. Lots of privacy. I did NOTHING I don't always do.
I do think the mix of finches you have either works or doesn't... I relocate finches that are aggressive or intrusive. There are a lot of private spaces for 'down time' and to reduce stress.
I wish there were something else I could tell you that I did but I think what I did was just buy the right pair of owl finches, these were PRNLF from a breeder. They are very calm and confident parents... model parents really. They've already started their second clutch and are still feeding the 5 from their first and raising them. I want to try to keep the babes with the parents as long as possible in hopes that they will also make good parents in their own time and learn from example.

Lots of Red Throat Parrot Finches, Forbes, Gouldians, BCCB's, RCCB's, Owls, Societies, and BB Fires. Plus, one wonderful 15 year old son, one wonderful husband and two rotten-to-the-core Border Terriers.

Those sleeping pictures of the baby Owls are adorable. The last one with the open eyes is clearly saying "Enough lady..." lol I haven't met any of this species in person but they sound wonderful and from the looks are total cuties.

Thanks for answering Anna. Yip its about getting that balance. Owls don't perform for me yet, but I think I have too many loose cock birds. My friend was supposed to take them off my hands for me as he has 3 loose hens, but due to work has had to go to the Emirates for a few months, so I am still stuck with 3 loose males. I think they interfer too much.
I will just let my breeding (non-breeding
) season pass, rest every one and sort out my stock for next season. I need to reduce the species I keep anyway and unfortunately the owls may be the species I let go for now.
