Hi Donna, im still getting the hang of the genetics, if it is a Lilac Chest should'nt it appear yellow???? or a lighter green then a purple chested dilute?? im sure i know that's what happans when its white chested and i thought the Lilac was similar to the white chest in that it changed the dilutes feather coloring to a more yellow look??

could u let me know if this is right or wrong???

Jarryd :)

Yes he is lilac breasted. I am going to take a picture of his back and post it tonight. I have been watching and waiting for this bird to color up for some time. I knew he was going to be beautiful. He has been from the beginning.

He has a very beautiful colored dilute back. And yes.... he is up for grabs. I will probably be taking him to the July bird mart and if no one from the foum claims him, he will go to Floyd. I have enough cocks and am in need of some nice hens.

Hi Jarryd,

We will save that question for Tiffany. I am sorry, but I am truly not into the genetics. I just like to be surprise with whatever I get.
Perhaps she can come on soon and answer that question for you.

He is right - I believe I was too distracted by how pretty he was to focus on the details ;)

If they are Lilac or WB they end up appearing visually yellow, rather than Dilute. Dilute only occurs with PB.

So perhaps he is just a very light PB - it's possible :)

But darn if he doesn't look Lilac in that photo! :?
