Dont smack me :-SS ......I already slammed 6 hot boiled eggs (with shells) and a half a handful of dried meal worms into the food processor! :-?? And sealed it into tupperware for the morning.

When I came back to the computer I saw your response.

I figured the hot eggs would soften the bits of dried mealworm. You are right, it is mush. But tomorrow morning they will have to dine at Dennys instead of the Voila Cafe. :))

Im outta eggs now. hahaha

Blah!!! They might not eat them.......
I'd mix a lot of spray millet seeds into the portion your going to give to them, to make it more crumbly. Maybe they'll eat it like that, not sure......

Six eggs is quite a lot for only two birds....
Maybe offer some to your Socies as well, as I wouldn't keep this mixture in the fridge for more than a couple of days.

Good luck :-D

Ahhh, I always go overboard. Yes I am hoping everyone, including the newly weaned babies will love the breakfast. I used to use a small fork to break it up and they liked that.

And seeing I use the used sprigs of millet to sprinkle on top on the eggs...I will also make sure to do so. I need a chicken #-o

No worries, at this age, it's more a dominance thing than anything else. I think you should be ok untill Tuesday :-D.

That is good to hear. So I have maybe another two weeks to separate them properly. Noone is trying to sing. CackleJax and Kojax are too dominate in the singing arena.

I may have to separate the babies from them when I see them eating more seed and not just millet.

OHHH look at the gourmet spread for the lovelies! Mine are headed to the local diner tomorrow for a cheap spread :))

Shouldn't have to seperate the older kids from the babies. If little ones are still being fed, then older sibs will help feed younger sibs. It's really cute.

Noone is begging anymore, I think it might be safe to start sorting them out soon. Ohh I wish I was old enough for retirement. This is going to take a lot of birdwatching

Oooh, lovely!

That was the color combo of my first pair and they've produced several beautiful babies! I'm looking forward to breeding them again.
Gouldians are just so darn sweet and pretty!

And the hopping as they woo their girlfriends? Beyond adorable!!!

A note on the eggs.....
They freeze well.
So you can always pop the extra into the freezer.
I usually make one big batch from 16-18 eggs. Mash 'em all up and put them in 5 small tupperwares. I put all but 1 in the freezer. To defrost, I just move a tupperware from the freezer into the fridge a day before I need it.
Humum to....
13 Zebra Finches....and 2 squeeps!
3 Society Finches
6 Gouldians
1 Weaver
1 Pintail Whydah
2 Cockatiels
2 Parakeets

....along with 1 MinPin, 1 Pug, 1 JRT, 1 Yorkie, 2 Chihuahuas and 15 cats.

Babs -- Ooh, you'll be in for a show! The hopping is just so precious!

lovezebs -- Yep, mine too! They're spoiled rotten! LOL
My friend was watching me prep all their foods the other day and she said, "Wow, you spend less than 1/4 of the time preparing your own food." And I realized that it's totally true! I'd never spend 30-45 min a day prepping my own food!

Though I found a couple of lovely shortcuts recently.
I finally got them to eat slices of cucumbers (instead of tiny little cubes). They eat out the center, creating a perfect ring of the skin! I put some millet seeds on the slices to get them interested. Took a few days but it finally worked!

And they've also started nibbling the whole eggshells. Huge timesaver there since I don't need to go through the ridiculous process of pounding shells into fine bits. I got them interested in the eggshells by using them as little cups for the egg food and it worked!

Though I have one who keeps stealing the half shells for use as nesting. #-o #-o #-o Silly kids.

I've never cut cukes into cubes. Either slices or spears, sticks, whatever you want to call them, which I poke between the bars.

I still pound my egg shells into smithereens, but I add them to my grit mix, along with oyster shell bits, grated cuttle, grated iodine block, grated mineral block, and birdie charcoal. This mixture is very popular and everyone without exception loves it.

I know what you mean about spending more time on bird food prep, than human food prep. I'm the same way. Can't be bothered fussing with human food, buy enjoy fussing with bird food, lol. Go figure......

Not sure how much you already have at the house but handfeeding formula is a must to have on hand if you are breeding. You just never know when you may need it, and need it fast! You can also add some handfeeding formula to your crushed hard boiled eggs to dry it out a bit, which my goulds love. The handfeeding formula adds absolutely everything they need nutritional wise, after all it is a complete food. Don't dilute the protein and nutrition of the egg with too many additives.
best of luck
