Black headed gouldian

Im still new to this.This is my third clutch,some chicks born in mid feb. have almost colored in.There are two that there heads are completely black,but one is turning red now.Why would they turn black first,thanks tom.

Do you have any pics? I've never had a Gould turn black then red. They just turn either black or red.

Are they hens?
Sometimes hens with dirtier masks look black up until the last minute when a few flecks of red or orange appear telling you they are really red or orange head, not black head.

That's very true Tiffany. I've had hens I swore were black-headed and all of a sudden... poof! There was red on them!

Tiffany they are hens,they were totally black,but one is starting to show some red.These3 are juveniles from the orange head i got from you,tom.
