Could this be an owl finch?

This baby is being raised by my owls and I have no clue if indeed it is an owl. I have had 3 owl finches for over 2 years and have had eggs but never hatchlings. I am not even sure whether or not I have a male out of the 3 cause I have never heard singing nor have I seen any type of male display behavior. Anyway at first the owl was in the nest all the time but now it only goes in to feed and sleeps in the nest at night.

I hope it is an owl baby....that would be great! :D My males sing and court, twitching tails and dancing up and down with a reed of grass or coco fiber.

My little owl finch fledged this past week. It is just too cute. I plan on banding him/her today. I am really surprised how they look. They look similar to a fledgling spice finch. The momma owl gets all upset when I enter the aviary and flys toward the baby to protect it. I mean she rants and raves.
Hope they will start breeding on a regular basis now. This is the first baby after owning them for 2 years.

Congrats on the fledgling! Maybe they have it figured out now, and will produce more for you.

Are you sure it is an owl? Owl fledglings look just like the adults, just dirtier. Here's a pic of young ones:

No it is not an owl. I wonder why the owl raised a spice finch? The spice finches do a good job themselves.

Perhaps John, that one little female owl just wanted to be a mom so bad she took over it's care. Seems she is loving her foster baby!

Very sorry to hear that, however it is always good news when you get a bird to successfully parent. That's most of the battle right there.
