A few of my Fires

These are so hard to photograph in an aviary. The just don't co-operate. The are so flighty and just won't stay still. I took about 50 pics and just a few came out decent.

The brilliant maroon red male is a black-bellied fire if it's the one you are talking about.

It's the one in the second photo of your first post, with a Lavender (at least I think that's a Lavender, though looks small in this photo) on a branch above, and no other birds in the photo. I've been concentrating on the Red-billed variety, but I'm tempted to branch out into other varieties of Fires--where I'll put them, I have no idea!

Sally that is a black-bellied fire. The bird in the pic with it is a yellow bellied waxbill.
If you are like me you will find more room.

I thought that Lavender looked small in the photo.

If you had to pick between Black-bellied Fires and Blue-billed Fires, which would you choose, and why? (Sounds like a question for a beauty contestant!

)

The black bellied without a doubt is the most beautiful of the two. I like both and am glad I have both. But if I were at a show and had to choose I'd choose the black bellied because of it's spectacular red color.
