Age of these societies?

I recently recieved to male societies from a neighbor who's moving away. She said that she's had them for about a year and doesn't know how old they are.

I can't take a picture so I'll just try to describe them.

Legs: They seem a bit, erm...worn (if you know what I mean) compared to my other societies.

They also tend to "sit" on perches instead of standing. Could that be a problem?

Nails: I was told that they were clipped 2-3 times, and they've already grown really long again.

Other than that they're both quite active, and sing alot. However they do nap a bit during the day, is that normal?

Yeah...So can someone tell me the age of these finches (about how old are they, at least )

IMO, the only times you can come close to guessing a bird's age is when it is very young or very old. Juveniles look young, and really old birds remind you of old people. In between, it is anyone's guess. Even with a photo, there is no way to look at an adult finch and tell its age.

From the description you've given, these birds do not sound like they are real young but I agree with Sally that there is no sure way to tell their age. It's anyone's guess, unless they are banded (which they're not). Simply enjoy them now and... congratulations on your new birds!! =D>
