Question about behaviour .

Post by MattMlt » Sat Sep 18, 2010 10:53 am

Hi Guys

Today i spent a couple of hours cleaning the room where my gouldian aviary is, and i noticed a male going in and out a particular box, the female stays always on the perch next to the entrance and sometimes goes on the entrance of the box looks inside but doesn't enter, i guess the box is new and the female is still not trusting it a lot . When both male and female are out of the box the male tries several times to mate with the female but still without any positive results cause even though the female is in good breeding condition and continuosly calling the male and flapping her wings, everytime he tries to mate she moves away, but they really look like a pair, cos the male lets only her close to the box, and they follow each other most of the time. What can i expect in the next couple of days ? am i thinking right or they aren't a pair yet ? could it be that the female isn't letting the male to mate cause maybe they already did what had to be done and she's preparing for her nest ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Most Gouldians mate inside the nesting box. He just sounds extra eager

If they are both going in they might be mating while inside the box. And, you might start seeing eggs inside.
