Introducing a new female zebra

Hopefully this goes here and not breeding, otherwise I apologize. :)

We had an incident with my cat a couple days ago and the results weren't good. He managed to pop a door open on the cage and scare my female out. By the time I got to her it was too late.

So, I'm on the hunt for a new female. I'm really worried that they won't "hit it off". What's a good introduction between them? Anything I should do to make things better/easier for them both?

Put a better latch on the cage door :(
I don't think it will be a problem he will be happy for the company.

So sorry for the hen :(
You could rearrange the cage, move perches. This will distract the male and give the girl some time to explore her new cage along with him in his rearranged surroundings. If he has all of his attention on the new girl it may be a little overwelming to her. She will not realize that that is a future mate...to her it is a stranger. And a strange place too. Sometimes if it is a new strange place they will bond for security and explore the new cage together.

It's a good latch, more my fault for not connecting it closed 100 percent the last time I changed them. :( I know better now and the cat is watched like a hawk!

Thank for the suggestions. Will do. :)
