Importing birds from USA to Canada

Hello every one,
I have a question regarding purchasing birds in the USA and bringing them to Canada.
Lately I've been reading in the forum about people that bought birds from Canada and shipped them to the states. I was wondering if any one can advice me about the other direction.
If I'm visiting in the USA and I want to buy 1 couple (or more) of finchs and I want to bring them back with me to Canada, what kind of documents do I need and if you know how much all the procedure might cost me with all the veterinary papers and the fees.

I appreciate your help,

Assaf Lerer,
Guelph,ON.

I've never done it myself, so can't help you there, but perhaps the best place to check would be with Canadian Customs, which can give you the rules regarding importation of birds.

I Googled it for you Assaf. You can start on this website and phone them if there is not enough information here.

I am sure it is not an easy nor quick task to undertake - bringing birds into Canada - if you are not a registered Importer.

I would be very anxious to know more if you get some info!

I'm considering a trip to the states myself in a few months and have thought about that too!

Good Luck!
