Society chicks - some fuzzy and some not?

Is there any reason as to why some Society chicks are hatched with fuzz and some are hatched without a speck of fuzz on them?
Here's a pic from today. The second Society egg hatched this morning and it is fuzz-less; whereas the first Society chick has one tuft of fuzz in middle of its back.

Well I don't have a clue either, but that is a very cute picture. Maybe they're like human babies. Some are as bald a cueballs and others have a full head of hair!

VERY cute pic!
I kinda liken it to guys with a lot of hair on them and some with not so much. Macho man!
(Being silly tonight... please excuse...)

I don't remember ever seeing a society chick with fuzz - interesting! And you're positive it's a society, huh?

Hell no!

Actually I think I am sure they are both Soc babies. I don't think I put any Star eggs in there at this time. I gave the Star eggs to the Gouldians (don't ask).

But Stars are the only other finches I have that hatch with fuzz (other than the tiny Fire Finches); and I don't have any Zebra finches anymore.
And I tried looking closely at the photo and what I can see of the mouth markings - look mostly the same for the two of them.

I think you have two species there......
I remember one time when I had some cherry finches, Misty swore they were society babies. Their mouth markings are the same.... so perhaps you have a star finch??????

Thanks Debbie - I have that site bookmarked but I can't tell from the photo and I hate to disturb the nest too much.

It will be a surprise if they are different species. I think they are both Socs.

I swear I've had Socs that were bald which is why when one was fuzzy I thought it was something else

I guess you will know for sure soon enough

LOL! That's what I love about this hobby. It's perfect for those of us with very little patience. Wait another week or two and most mysteries (at least with chicks) are revealed!
