HELP!!!!

Post by Gizmo92 » Thu Jul 12, 2007 9:10 pm

I got home today after only having my Zebra pair days and they were running around with feathers in their mouths starting to fill the nest. I supplied them with grass short yarn, feathers (artificial & cockatiel), and fabric. When should i cut them off? Is egg food necassary since the female makes daily trips to the cuttle bone? I need advice I haven't gotten from books!
Waiting for new zebras to breed.

Well, that certainly didn't take long! I don't personally breed zebras, but from what I understand you'll need to watch the level of the material in the nest - they'll overfill it and the eggs will just roll out. When as high as you're willing to let it get (they really just need a good cushion on the bottom), take the extra material out of the cage or they'll just keep building. Cuttlebone, oystershell and/or baked eggshell will give her the calcium she needs, and since the eggfood will be great when they're feeding their chicks it's good to get them used to it now. Good luck, and have fun!

Thanks there are all tucked in for the night. They put everything in the nest then lined it withthe strips of cloth so it was all covered. They are so smart.
