Noticed a nest a few days ago with 4 baby cutthroats that appeared to be neglected. Their crops were empty. I let them stay in the nest for another day and checked them again and the crops were still empty so I removed them yesterday and they are eating well. Keeping fingers crossed. The last 2 clutches produced a total of 6 females, no males. Hoping to get some males out of these.

Will say a special prayer for them! They look good! Wishing you the best!

I hand feed wet pretty bird mini pellet food . I use a banding tool to feed. I feed when I hear them screaming to be fed. Or if I look and mouths are wide open I feed.

Good luck John, I know how much you hate handfeeding. Once you get the hang of it, things seem to go pretty smoothly. Here's hoping these guys pull through.

Bad news. All 4 birds have died. The food was not digesting. It was staying in the crops. Perhaps it was just too cold. I have trouble keeping this old house warm.

So sorry Johnboy What temps were you keeping them at? And, can I ask why you don't keep or have any handfeeding formula on hand for emergencies? This might make the difference next time...

Thats sad I have a soft spot for those cutthroats.
