hi iam new to this forum and would like to ask a question,i have recently purchased 2 spice finches, i know it is hard to tell the sex but can you tell by there behavior, the fact that they roost together does that mean i have a pair? i know that one of them definantly makes a nice chirpy sound, and i think i have heard some sort of whistle im not sure though if both make a sound or not any way any help would be great!
oh yeah they are in a flight cage with 2 pairs of zebras if that helps.
thank you

Christy -
If you have a male it will sing (mine sings constantly!). I'll watch mine tomorrow morning and give you a description of his song - I'm drawing a blank right now! I think his song sounds a bit like somebody tapping on a hollow log.....

They will cuddle no matter what gender they are. The male will sing, however. Mine's song sounded something like "be-de-de, be-de-de, be-de-de meeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh." It was quite comical. :)

I have 2 males myself. The easiest way to determine if they are male is their singing. Mine are barely audible, I have to listen very closely, but they fluff up and sometimes hop a little the way society finches do.
