They are beautiful. Are those the pair? I don't know if breeding two different kinds of parrots is ok, or not. I'm not sure how it works but RT and Seagreens are different types. Someone with parrot experience will jump in soon.

Good luck with them!

Sea green is a mutation of Red faced parrot right?

Very nice looking pair! I love PF's. :)

Seagreen is just a mutation of the RT so that pair should be fine.

The main thing to remember about PF's (if you breed in a small cage) is that the males get obese very easily -- and if they get obese they can't fertilize the eggs.

If I were you I would just do a search on the FF for "parrot finch" and read anything that interests you -- there is a lot out there.

Best of luck!
Anna

Thank you for reply to everyone! :P My male RT has sea green in him (per Breeder) so, He is a Split ? Then I could have..Split cock x SG hen = 25% SG cocks : 25% split cocks : 25% SG hens : 25% Normal Hens. Wow!!

I know nothing about parrots and never kept them, it just seemed like an odd pairing to me look wise. It's nice to know is an exceptable pairing and the nice variety you can get from it. I love variety :) I hope to get my first pair of Parrots in the summer so good to know what can go together:)

Try some meal worms, mine love them.
Extra protein to get them into breeding condition.
I buy the smal ones, 100 for $4.00.

Boil some water in a kettle, and pour about half a cup.
Drop them in, and they die instantly.
My pair ate four each today.

My parrot finches ate hundreds of mealworms. They loved them!
I had mealworm farms with thousands of babies and had them sent by UPS 1000 at a time. They only squished the insides out and left the skin which then attracted lizards into my outdoor aviary. The parrot finches, other finches and now lizards all waited for mealworms everyday instead of eating seed. I read that the bran they live in causes a problem with calcium and isn't good for the birds. What the worms eat, the birds eat. I also had huge bouts of flour moths in my garage which came into the house several times to take over!
I read about boiled eggs and tried that. It worked great and all of the birds love it. I have saved hundreds of dollars, have less lizards in the aviaries and have skinnier/healthier birds and no moths in my kitchen!
No more mealworms for me!
At least my cages and aviaries are not in my house so there weren't worms everywhere crawling around. My only positive to the mealworms were a pair of red cheek cordons parent raised three babies.

I agree, that you can have problems with the meal worms.
That is why I drop them into boiled water to kill them, no moths.
My birds are inside and we don't have lizards in Calgary.lol
Also I will only give them enough to see them eat them.
I tried boiled eggs for them and they wouldn't eat it.
