Sexing babies in the nest.

I was once told by someone, and don't ask me who.
That you can tell if the babies will be males or females, by just the way they act when they see you.
So it has to be when their eyes are open and looking at you.
If the baby or babies move back and try to go back as far as they can, it will be a male.
If they just hunker down and and try go low as possible and look like they are not there, it will be female.
Anyone else here of this?

Never heard of this before. :P I would think this would tell more about the personality of the finch than the sex.

Never heard it before either. Sounds like an old wives tale to me. :)

I also heard that the father tends to feed the daughters more and vise-versa.

Hi Jerry, I have heard of this method being used with canaries from several successful breeders. I have yet to try it myself but will do this breeding season and take notes to see if it is reliable as they mention.
