These are both about the same age and offspring from my pairs. The are paired and I am hoping to get splits from them and eventually pair those with either Continental CFW or BC mates.

The parents to the male Continental CFW had a little chick fledge last night. The young are born pink turn black on their heads and back. When they start feathering out the body is a white color with a black/white back and head. By the time they fledge you can see the cheeks have darkened and will continue to do so as they molt. The head and back turn white and if a male the bars and flanking come in.

Your black cheek zebra finches are so beautiful! :)
Is the cfw mother in the picture with the baby black chick split to black cheek?
She is the absolute double of my cfw Zarkava.

Thank you...the baby is a Continental CFW, both parents are Continental CFWs. Their heads are black until the molt and it turns white like the parents. They also are sweet like the Black cheek pair I have.
