Sex of my finch

Post by leon632 » Tue Mar 29, 2011 5:59 am

Can anybody help me with the sex of my finch?
We were told it was a female and we still think it is but she was caged with another female finch which died suddenly and it looked like she was trying to lay an egg but died in the process.
This may not have been the case but we couldn't come to another conclusion.
She is beige in colour and doesn't have any stand out features.

Can female finches lay eggs when they are not pregnant?

Finches of all types will lay eggs when given the right opportunity. Especially if they have a nest, it is their natural instinct.
