What would you pay?

Post by BigBear0007 » Sat Apr 02, 2011 1:11 pm

Is $250.00 for a true pair of "Blue Capped Cordon Bleus" a good price?
Petsmart here in Calgary has a true pair.
I have never seen any here for sale.
The Red Cheeks come up for sale every ones in a while, but not these.

Thanks Jerry

This does sound like a good price for a retailer, not far off the mark :D

$80-$120 a pair at bird fairs. $200 a pair at Pet Smarts in the US.

Wow, $250 is a lot! In my area, they would go for about $100 a pair. And I know they were much less than that in Atlanta last year. Just goes to show that price varies considerably by location. Supply and demand at work!

It seems all our ( Canadian ) prices are much higher than any of the prices you post for birds south of our border....Hmmm maybe a move south would be in order....No snow and outdoor aviaries too!

About $140/pair is the going price around the Toronto GTA area, although they are not common.

It seems here in Calgary, we definately get the shaft! [-X
Even bringing in birds from B.C. always doubles the price.

The neighbors daughter works at that PetSmart
and she can get me a discount.
If I don't find any going for less, I will talk to her.

It is Sooo difficult to get more exotic finches here! Sounds like most of Canada actually.
What a shame - I don't know what it would take to establish a comprehensive finch breeding/exchange/transport, but it sure would be wonderful! I"m still so knew to this, maybe there IS something like that???
I have to admit, I've paid extra for just some societies that I really wanted. Now I have them for breeding, so it's worth it to me, but all the same, it was a hefty initial output.

I guess it's just what you're willing/able to pay for the birds you really want....
