I was also wondering if anyone knows of anyone in the States with any Pytilia? (sometimes called aurora finches too). I find tons about them in australia and in the UK, but haven't heard much about them here.

Try Birds Express - they don't seem to have Auroras, but do have Melbas on their pricelist. My importer here on the East coast is Maryland Exotic Birds - the owner has proven to be very willing to connect me to other collectors/breeders when I'm looking for a specific bird. Good luck!

thanks so much! They have strawberry's too. Have you used the Birds Express before? Do you think they generally have pretty healthy birds?

I've only used them once, but was very pleased. When we FINALLY got a shipment of birds in from Africa I purchased three pairs of red-cheek cordon bleus from them. They're in California and I'm in Virginia. They shipped Delta, and while unfortunately storms cancelled one of the flights and they arrived the next day (as opposed to the same day) the birds were in great condition. They just got another African shipment into quarantine - who knows, you may luck out and they may have some of what you're looking for! Where do you live? I've heard of other sources in California for some of the more exotic finches if you're on that coast.

I'm in Illinois, but I am in California often enough that California distributors would probably valuable.
