New Cordon Bleu

Post by tammieb » Wed Aug 01, 2007 8:23 pm

I can't believe I forgot to post about the new addition to my flock!

I stopped in my favorite privately owned pet shop about three weeks ago and they had a pair of Cordon Bleus. I hated to split them up, but was only interested in the male.

I brought him home and kept him in quarantine until a few days ago. He has settled right in with the others and is singing his little head off.

I don't know why, but I failed to take his photo before adding him to the aviary.

Congrats! I'm always tempted by those (and owls)...there was a pair at my Petco for the longest time (at a very good price) but I do not have the space.

A local petstore in my area also got 4 pairs of cordon bleus in. I've been tempted in the past to buy a pair, but with how sensitive I've heard them to be, I don't think I can do it. I can only handle hardy finches because sometimes the temp. drops lower than some finches can handle.

Plus they were all plucked at the petstore. She told me it was because they were shipped in a regular size breeding cage (for 2 birds) with 100 birds in one cage. Isn't that abuse??
