Very nice Liz!!! The are gorgeous birds. Do they sing like that of a Canary?

Thanks! They are very pretty!
I haven't been around them long enough to hear them sing but I've read the male has a nice although repetitive song.

Liz, keep them by themselves. They are vicious when breeding. Remember my post when they killed all my goldfinches, bronze wings and magpies?

Yes I do recall John. Thanks for the reminder. Did you ever get your pair to breed?

Are they a true pair?
Did you get them from a breeder?
I had a male years ago.
I had to go back to shop three times
before I got a true male.
Its a nice song, can be loud.

I have bought various finches from this petshop over the past 6 years and he has only mis-sexed one pair of birds over that time. Hopefully he got this pair right too; but honestly I don't know yet.
One has much more orange on the forehead than the other.

Yes they did breed. I posted the pics of the neat looking eggs they laid. But they would not set after transferring them from the aviary to a cage by themselves. And they have never bred in the cage.

Yes I remember the speckled eggs - beautiful. Were they fertile? Were you able to foster the eggs?
