It finally happened we have 3 of the 5 eggs hatched. They must have hatched last night sometime cause when I went to bed we still had 5 eggs. I am so excited I don't know what to do. Is there anything I should do or just let mama do what she is supposed to do? These babies are so cute and fuzzy and their are lifting their head to be fed. I can hardly wait to see what color they are going to be. Daddy is a Red Factor and Mama is Yellow Varigated.

HOW EXCITING!!!!! =D> =D> =D> What a great Mothers Day!!

Any help or comments very much appreciated. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

They are so adorable! They have more feathers than my green singer hatchlings that hatched yesterday and this morning. I tried to get a good picture, but it was too hard to see them. I'll try again later. Good Luck!

I find it best to just let the arents do their job,and you will be surpprised,it is mostly the male that feeds the chicks for canary's
Have a read of this page, very helpfull for the devolepment stages etc

http://www.americansingercanary.com/chicks.htm

(I know it is aimed at american singers, but all canaries share a similar schedule for fledge etc)

Congrat on the chicks!!!!
Crossing a red factor with a yellow usually dilutes/messes with both ground colors and you will end up with a peach colored bird... if you color feed it a red food suppliment the bird will take on a more orange color.
The variegated parts or if you have a pattern young and it has inherited the red factor then if you color feed it you can obtain a bronse colored bird.
Most purist breeders think it is best to breed yellows to yellows and reds to reds. However many people like the peach/soft orange colored birds. Me being one of them :D
