Can you please tell me what kind of finch is the one in the back behind the firefinch? It has red wings and tail feathers, grey back and as you can see grey and white tummy. Thanks! :)

Aurora Finch is correct or Red Wing Pytilla.

I wasn't expecting to get the Aurora; I was getting three Owls from someone, who asked if I'd like her remaining finches for a very low price, and I said yes, thinking I was saying yes to three extra finches (1 male Peter's Twinspot, 1 male Firefinch, and 1 male Gold Breast). Didn't even notice there was a fourth bird in the cage until I got home! LOL! Of course I"m not complaining! It seems that the Aurora finch and the Firefinch are quite attached to one another, as they've buddied up all day, and tonight are sleeping together. I hope that one doesn't cause problems in my mixed flight cage, although my little Gold Breast pair that I already have are quite feisty and I cant imagine anyone pushing them around too easily! I had to move my Gouldians out of that cage because they were so fed up with the Gold breast female dive bombing them all day long! (I hope the same thing about the Twinspot, although he seems like quite the loner...)

Congrats on all the new birds.

My Twinspot was a loner too. He only ever interacted with his hen and when she passed away he kept to himself mostly. I had no aggression issues etc and he was in a mixed aviary, but then again they never bred.

Can anyone tell me what specific type the Firefinch is, and confirm he's a male? Thanks! :)
