Some penguins

Post by cindy » Sun May 29, 2011 8:00 pm

These are two of the group of penguins I have...two pairs either are on eggs or have young again. The male in the picture is in a little molt right now and you can't see the flanking on it's side to well.

The female in the picture is one of my favorite...she has little ones right now (her second clutch) that are starting to peek out at me but still about a week away from fledging.

VERY NICE. =D>

Penguins are my favorite zebras.
I was somehow attracted to their color pattern.

Such cuties! I can hardly wait to see if either of my two little hatchlings will show Penguin like Daddy. If not I'll know they are split to Penguin. Right?

It is just one of the many different mutation within the zebra family. There are so many mutation possibilities for zebras...you'll want them all!!! The article by Roy Beckman is very good and I refer to his site often, it might help in the description of different mutations.

http://www.efinch.com/species/pengzeb.htm (penguins)

:> Trish...I forgot...what are the parents again? You will either get splits or what I call visual penguins. My one pair is normal male and a penguin female and they produced visual penguin boys. My second pair both are penguins. If you put a pied in the mix the pied will cancel out the orange cheeks on the boy and the pied with stay in the line for a long time.

I would like to try for a fawn version of the penguins. I recently got a fawn male zebra from a third generation of my original zebras. I am hoping to be able th produce a few fawns but it may take a few more generations of trying!!!

Cindy~I have a Penguin male and this female which I'm not sure what she is. Maybe Fawn? I don't think she's a female Penguin. I used to think she was a SFFF but she's got a tear mark. I just don't know. I think I've looked at 100 zebra photos and still can't place her.

Maybe you can make a guess on what she is????
