could this be considered a fussion bar?

Post by colorin » Sun Jun 05, 2011 6:04 am

In all pictures I take of this BG (YTB), I can see a darker reddish "line", but not in some of the other birds.
Is this what you call a fussion bar or is it just wishful thinking?

and where did it come from? Parents don't have any!
But I've had a look at his RH brother, and he also might have that bar... I have to take more pics!

That is going to be one beauty when it has finished molting!!! =D>

Just a word of caution: Be care with that type of perch. Their nails can get hung up in them when they are frayed like that. I have some spiral rop swings that my birds really love, but I watch it very careful for the frays.

What does it mean when a bird have a fussion bar? I have one with a fussion bar does that make it different than the others?

Does look like a red fusion bar :D ... sometimes the camera can play tricks. One was to know for sure is to catch the bird and ruffle his feathers
The red will be in the center of the feather itself.
Here is a post where I photographed the red line close up (towards the bottom of the post) check out the pics and then go ruffle some feathers :D

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't see a fusion bar in any of these photos? :/

To me the only way to be sure, like Candace said, is to catch the bird and push the feathers back - if there is truly a fusion bar present you'll see the actual line of color on the feathers themselves.

Most of the time I notice camera photos play tricks - I think its the play on color between the purple and yellow that sometimes makes it look like its there when it's not.

But I don't even see the color in these photos so my guess (without seeing the pushed back feathers) would be they do not have them.
