but not everything is right..
Like when she/he says that its should not pair a full BC with another BC.
It is OK to pair up BC to BC.
Its just a legend that its not ok.
for many years ago, people was so greedy in Black cheeks,
that they started to pair up very related birds,
and the birds got smaller and smaller.

So the only thing is: Dont pair up related BC birds.

But like it says in Efinch.com:
It is believed that the double factor Black Face is a lethal.
And: More statistical data is needed to determine if the gene is lethal or not

So I think people should not be afraid to pair up the birds they like
and the mutations they want to produce.

I did not catch that one about the BC. I pair BC to BC all the time. You are right though it should be pairing is only done with unrelated.

Sometimes the most unplanned combinations are the most amazing.

What is your take on pairing crested? Some say two crested are lethal other say it might improve or keep the crest from becoming worse.

Well.... I have to say I dont know:/

I have never seen a Crested bird here in Iceland.
So sad, I really want one!! or.. two.. or three
they are so cute.

But, I have read that Its better to pair up crested bird to Non crested, to get prettier crest.

I have two crested at the momnent, unrelated. One from a crested pied penguin male and penguin female. The other is the fluke black cheek female without black cheeks. I am trying to figure out what to pair the minus BC one with.

The little male from the penguins is with a pied female but the match is not good...he is to pushy with her but they are nesting with eggs. He looks like a normal with funny hair!

What if you pair your non BC crested female with
unrelated BC male?

Maybe you will get some Crested BCs

I could pair her with a CCFW/BC male. Crested BC would be nice to have.

I asked a question about pairing BC with BC a while back because I remembered reading that you shouldn't do it. This must have been where I read it! I think it was Cindy who told me it was okay, and now I have two beautiful BCs that I can hardly wait to breed when they're old enough!!!

Nelissa....when they do breed and have young post pictures!! BC are one of my favorite mutation!
