Good Day All...
I know your going to say "oh no! another newbie" ;) and I was told by another member that you guys are awesome, and should be the only form that I needed to join.... So here I am.
I just rec'd 6 finches from a guy that has gotten out of breeding. I was told 1 male, 5 females and are white. So I am hoping that someone can tell me what breed of finch that I might have.
Greatly appreciated all of your help.

Welcome
Yes thesed are indeed zebra finches, females and one male. Their colour is called Chestnut Flanked White, CFW for short.
I recommend checking out
http://www.efinch.com, Roy there is the god of zebra mutations and has a great site showing all of them ;)

I was wondering that too Cindy! I kept looking at the top of her head wondering what that was up there. I can't tell if it's black feathers mingled in with the white or what.
Fantastic finches!

Congrats to you and your new finchy family! There are lots of new people on here so don't be shy! By the way, how big is your cage? It looks alot like the one I have for a Hospital cage but can't be sure.

Hi all,
Thank you for all the warm welcome's.
re: crested comment... the head looks to be a very light greyish/blue. On the tail feathers, has light brown lines across them.
All females seem to look the same.
I will try to take better pics.... little guys are some quick!
The current cage they are in is about 2' deep x 2' high x 3' long. I will use this cage as a quarantine cage.
I also have a 18x18x24" high I would use as a hospital cage.
I am in the process in building a cage 4' high x 8' long x 2.5' deep. I am thinking on having a removal divider down the center. 2-in-1 cage. So much easier to do this now in the building stage.
Yes, the CFW's are pretty little ones. Doesn't seem to be too popular in pet shops.
brown envelopes welcomed
(empty contents, shred envelope for bird use = all recycled)

Welcome to the forum!
I would put news paper on the floor of the cage
for your little finches.
Its not good for their feet to walk on the cage bars.

hi
some cfw females come out of the nest with dark streaks on thier heads which usually disapears when they moult....i must agree it looks like a crest from the pic but i think its just the head markings that make it look that way
