I currently have a single green singer in with my gouldians and he is an absolute joy. He sings and flits around wonderfully. I was thinking about getting him a female friend, but wanted to ask others beforehand. I was wondering if this will cause a problematic behavior change or if that is only during breeding?
Thanks,
Laura

Re: Green Singers
My green singers were kept together in a group when they were young but eventually they started pairing off and I had to separate each pair into their own cage. They would pick and occassionally chase the other birds around the cage for a bit even though there no nesting sites to be fighting over. Sometimes the pairs will squabble amongst themselves for a bit so I definitely don't think they can be kept in a cage with other birds. I suggest you keep the male in there by himself if you want to keep the peace, keep in mind that he will stop singing as well if he finds a mate.

Re: Green Singers
I keep single GS with other finches. When I want to breed a pair - I pick them out of their separate flight cages and put them in a together in a breeding cage on their own.

Re: Green Singers
I have two GS pairs, each in their own cage. The males are always singing. They both have a mate and still they sing, like clockwork, in the morning and the evening.Rowdy Hotel wrote:My green singers were kept together in a group when they were young but eventually they started pairing off and I had to separate each pair into their own cage.
