I guess this is more for the moderators. Is there any plans on dividing the "Species" index by continents, i.e. African, Australian, etc. or even individual species?
No offense to anyone intended, but there seems to be a lot of the same questions posed regarding the more common species like Zebras or Societies. Maybe they could have their own index?

I belong to another forum that has that set up. It has it's pro's and con's to me.
With SPECIES being a single page you view all new topics and invarieably you find a topic you did not know about and learn. If they were seperated you would have to go to each page. Some don't have the time to view each page/not being interested never look and well basically you loose out on the full picture.

Perhaps if what really is the issue is the same questions that get repeated we can have bird profiles put together with info that included info that is commonly asked. On a whole though people can seach and find the topics covered.

I must be honest I like the FF layout. I find it very user friendly and simple.

Yes, it does have it's pros and cons. Guess you can't make everyone happy!

I guess the biggest disadvantage is that the forum is already so much bigger than it used to be, with the addition of the Marketplace and the Calender--there may be a limit to how big it can be made without getting too unwieldy.

The fact is, the Finch Information Center has so much species information available already, and I sometimes forget to go there first when I have a question. And I think many of us, myself included, don't use the Search button at the top of the page often enough.

I, quite often, will use the search funtion before I post what I anticipate will be a frequently asked question. But then I get lots of hits that have nothing/little to do with what I am looking for info on. As a relative newbie here, it is sometimes A LOT to wade through, and I end up reading lots and lots of posts/topics and still don't get the exact info I am looking for. One (of the many) things that I love about this forum is even though some of the veterans on here have answered some questions many times over, everyone is still SO willing to re-answer when a similar topic is posted. And sometimes answers to such questions change over time and with new experience and new members.

You are so right, Nelissa, I have changed many things I used to do for my finches, and I'm sure I will continue to change. Yes, searches may bring up some old information that is not current. I myself used to treat all my flock for ASM every three months, and I no longer do that, yet a search might bring up my old advice of treating every three months. So my comment about the search button was out of line.

Nonono! Definitely not out of line! I just meant, that from the perspective of a finch newbie (I've only been at it since December) that while the search function does have a very useful purpose, it can sometimes be overwhelming, especially on those common topics. It is nice to be able to re-ask some of those common questions specifically because we can get answers that may be more useful to a particular situation. I think even for the long-time finchers, it is probably nice to see what other long-timers are doing new and different!
My VERY first activity on here was using the search function, when I had a tossed baby and had NO idea what to do! I was able to get immediate suggestions, and saved the little girl! So search is very good, just not for everything.
