Just curious about the personalities in everyone's aviaries....
Which birds that have the most personality and which the least.
In my aviary my shaftails are hilarious. I have become to love these birds the most of all. They are just full of personalities with their bopping around and bouncing on the perches. They also are so funny in their nest the way they peep out at you.
The gouldians.... although very beautiful birds.... seem to have the least of personality to me. The babies are fun, but once they reach adulthood they just don't have so much.
Of course alot of the waxbils lack personality also.
But their beauty makes up for it.
Would love to hear other's thoughts and opinons on their birds personalities.

In my opinion, red throat parrot finches have the most personality in an aviary.

I agree donna...shafties are hysterical, you can see the personalities develope when they are little and they don't loose it. It is funny I can still go over to the cage front and they all come and line up and chatter at me like they did when young.
If they sound the alarm that I a near and I tell them hush, they hush....it is funny. They are very nosey and can't wait to come see what you left them, they all have a huge conversation about it.
Owls go through a flighty period when young, a clown period and then that serious but sweet period.
Zebras...they are just all over, funny, fiesty, shy....loud.
Green singers...shy but curious and cautious.

My gouldians just kind of hang out, almost as if they are too good for all this silliness.
I get a real kick out of the owls though, they always seem to be doing something, busy busy busy. I've got one that follows me everywhere I go in the aviary kind of buzzing my head the whole time.
The forbes just kind of stay out of the way and zip here and there.

Cindy, do your shaftails sound like they are laughing when they bop up and down with their necks on the perch? I swear it sounds to me as if they are laughing....
I agree about the gouldians being snobs and the parrot finches (red throat) they are very flight in my aviary along with the forbes. You would think they would be used to me by now with all the time I spend in there.
My painted finches are the calmest and tamest. I can come nose to beak with them.

Well when I think of my aviary the personalities that jump out are my parrot finches. Right up there with them are the Cordon-bleu's and Violet ears, but their personalities are food driven. I've now even got my cheeky VE to take worms from my hand.
My gouldians actually display a lot of curiosity. I quite like their personalities. Regal yet with a clown in there somewhere under all the colour.
Least personality... the doves, they're just dim.

That is an interesting question. Since starting finches, I still enjoy the Society's the most. They are constantly interacting and doing funny things. Next, would be the Green Singers, who are very curious and interact with me at the cage door. Especially, the hens, who will come close and look at me and seem to communicate with me. The males are more flighty. Then the Owls and rccb's, who are flighty, but interesting to watch interact with each other. I just got RHPF and they love to fly by the front of the cage back and forth when I am feeding. I also love my lavenders, although they can be bossy with the other finches. The lavenders and fire finches often play tug of war over nesting materials. It's a hoot. Most of the waxbills are cute but boring to watch as far as personalities go, but they are beautiful birds.

My BC Cordon Bleu's are definitely my busy bodies and most entertaining. The do and try anything. I almost have them sitting in my hand eating mealworms.
Although Owls are pretty much my favorite species, I would have to say this pair of CB's is my favorite. Their names are Adam & Eve (my first).
Here is a photo of them and their first fledglings.
