Would this be considered a red head? I am guessing because of the beak color. If I am right I may be learning something. :?

Why did I think red tipped beak spells red head? Evidently I am learning nothing about gould color. I am so confused

It is black. And she does have the red beak. But I keep hearing that YB's and or dilutes can't express their true head color so it shows as white or gray or whatever.

It's a black head, white breast, double factor yellow and it's a male.

Its still molting its young feathers.
If it was a single factor yellow, the head would be a charcoal colour.
Its a dble yellow.

I know it's male. It's been singing for a month now. He's been slow to molt His siblings have already molted and have gone to new homes already. I am keeping this one cause it is my first YB, WB.

There is a blue collar starting to show.

I am also noticing yellowish feathers on the head at the area where it meets the beak

It doesn't spell red head, it just indicates they aren't genetically YH.
Visually black headed normal birds also have red tipped beaks unless they are genetically YH. :)

If it spells anything it just means that if they had a red head color allele they'd be capable of depositing red color, but since they don't, they can't, and they're black as a result.

Dad is BH, PB, dilute. Mom is BH, PB, YB. Both must be split to white cause this bird has a white breast.
