Here is a clip of my RCCB doing his grass dance and singing his love song to his female. They are slowly building another nest and hopefully this time around they will have a successful clutch.

The hen was in the nest waiting for him to finish dancing and bring her some building materials! This is a long process with him stopping to hop up and down every half an hour!
The owls are everywhere - they are the busiest little birds. They're always flitting from perch to perch and won't sit still for very long. They have a nest box too. They sleep in it at night, but haven't added any materials to it.

Jacqui...that was so cute...yup, owls are busy bees!!
If yo are using Timothy hay take some of the little stalks with the plume or seed head on then, put a few in the cage...it is so cute to see the males jumpig and dancing with them. Like they are leading a parade.

That is what I use, but he ignores those pieces. Just plain old hay for this guy. I agree though - it would be adorable!!

When I played this video, both my male and female RCCB's got very excited, and immediately started singing/jumping and doing their little courtship dance. So adorable!

Very cute! Nice looking RCCB, as is the Owl that keeps trying to get in the picture.

Good luck with the RCCB pair, it's always nice to see people have success with this species. BTW, even though CBs are waxbills, they are in the Uraeginthus genus, instead of Estrilda, so should be moved to that genus. I used to think all waxbills were in the same genus, but there are a few exceptions.

Thanks for putting it in the proper section. I'll know where to post next time!

I've never seen the grass dance done by a RCCB before, but it was definetly cute and interesting! I thought the owl finch trying to steal the spotlight was hilarious!

Okay, that is just too cute (and another reason you've got to love finches)!
Fine looking pair and here's wishing for a successful clutch this round!

The nest building continues and I witnessed them mating this morning. I was a bit too slow with the camera to capture that event - which the birds probably will thank me for!

LOL!! So, I guess I can expect some eggs to be laid within the next week or so.

Time to set up my society pair with a nest again, just in case.
