One of my gould hens looks like she is ready to burst with eggs!
Do you think she will go in the nest box I provided? No, No, No!! [-X
So I took that out and put in a wicker basket.
Which I really don't like because the babies are hard
to take out to ring.
As soon as I put it in, she was inspecting it and was happy
that it was there!
I guess that was what she was raised in.
I know the fellow I got her from bred her one
time last fall and it was in a wicker basket.
She rased four babies then, so I put her with a young unbred male.
Hopefully she will teach him a thing or two. #-o

I was wondering about that also. My foster raised gouldians were raised in ABBA nest boxes. I provide my gouldian pairs with larger deeper nest boxes made from 4 half gal milk cartons.

I have had mixed success with the milk carton nest boxes with new birds and I wondered if they remember the nest they were raised in. Buy my own foster raised hens seem to have no problem using the milk carton nest boxes.
