Emerald Finch- is there such a thing?

Post by motomom » Fri Jul 07, 2006 7:30 pm

I saw a small finch- (size and shape) at PetSmart. Mottled brown breast dark beak and an emerald green stripe on it's wing. Store didn't know what the name (or price!- didn't have the SKU). Said he believed they were emerald finches. What else? :?

Does anyone recognize this bird?

Thanks.

Sounds like a bronze (winged) mannikin, Lonchura cucullata, to me.
