Separation Anxiety

Well I had to separate the one and only young
gouldian I have from it's parents.
The parents were chasing it away in the cage.

It's six weeks old and it has been out of the nest box for two weeks.
I have not seen the parents try to feed it since last Friday and it was refusing to take food from dad.

I wanted to leave it with mom and dad for a few more weeks
even though it is eating well on it's own.
The parents have other ideas, they want to be alone
and start nesting again.

Last night I saw that mom and dad were in the nest box
and the baby was out side.

I wish I had another young one to keep it company so
it wasn't alone in the cage.

Poor wee thing. I'm sure his solitary confinement will only be temporary and you'll find a buddy for him soon.

Better solitary than plucked.
It sure wants to get back with it's parents.

Maybe the cage wasn't big enough for all three to get along comfortably?
